Students excel in Macao-wide English Speech Contest 2019-11-10

The 18th Macao-wide English Speech Contest was held today at the Macao Polytechnic Institute.  Pui Ching students won various awards.  Primary 3 student Si U Hin won the championship in the Lower Primary Category and the Best Speech Award in the Chinese Nationality Category.  Primary 3 student Tou Ut I won the Best Speech Award in the Chinese-Medium Primary School Category.  Junior 1 student Lam Cheng Hei won the Third Place in the Junior High Category and the Best Speech Award in the Chinese-Medium Secondary School Category.  Primary 2 student Chin Keng Tin, Primary 5 student Tang Hei Yeung, and Primary 6 student Ieong Hoi Yip won the Merit Award in the Lower Primary and Upper Primary Category respectively.  Junior 3 student Cheng Oi Wa and Senior 1 student Kam Man Hin won the Merit Award in the Junior High and Senior High Category respectively. 

Students win gold award in International Genetically Engineered Machines Competition (iGEM)2019-11-05

The International Genetically Engineered Machines Competition (iGEM) was held at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston. Students of Pui Ching competed in the event and won the gold award.

 

iGEM ​​is the largest competition in the academic field of biochemical engineering and the birthplace of countless biochemical technology startups.  iGEM was founded 8 years ago at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  It later independently sponsored this world-class competition with corporate and social funding. Participants come from all over the world.  The number of participants exceeded 4,000 this year, including nearly 500 teams.  Pui Ching students Wu Kuan Choi, Mok Nga Teng, Lao Chon Hou, Leong Chon Neng, Lei Ieng Chon, Un Hoi Man, Lao Hou Ip, Ao Sao Wa, and Ieong Ho Chong, and Pui Ching alumnus Chio Lok Hang worked under the guidance of their instructor Ms. Cheong Wai Man and competed with fellow contestants from internationally renowned universities such as Tsinghua University, Peking University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard University and Oxford University.  Contestants in the competition came from secondary schools from 45 countries and regions.  Student contestants from Pui Ching won the gold award in the competition.

 

Student contestants from Pui Ching received help and support for their research and experiments from various parties in this event, including the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau, the Science and Technology Development Fund, University of Macau assistant professors Dr. Lee Tsz On, Dr. Wang Ya Fan, and Dr. Xie Rui Yu, and the Macao Science and Artificial Intelligence Education Association.  Our gratitude also goes to Pui Ching alumni Mr. Fong Pak Kei and Mr. Kam Wai Tak for their financial support and many alumni for their warm encouragement.

Pui Ching students participated in the awards ceremony of the Let’s Draw 1001 Inventions Drawing Competition hosted by the Macau Science Center and won various awards.  Award winners are as follows:

 

Upper Primary Category:

Championship: Ian Hei (Primary 5)

Third Prize: Chan Long Hei (Primary 6)

Merit Award: Ao Kam Leong (Primary 4), Chong Ian Tong (Primary 5), Lei Weng Chon (Primary 5), Choi Lok Ka (Primary 6), Ng Hoi Cheng (Primary 6)

 

Lower Primary Category:

Championship: Mok Chon Him (Primary 3)

Merit Award: Leong Chi Ieng (Primary 1), Chu Keng Ian (Primary 2),

 

 

Students win 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 3 Special Awards in Korean Science and Engineering Fair2019-10-28

Upon invitation, three students from Pui Ching Middle School attended the Korean Science and Engineering Fair from October 17th to 22nd, making Pui Ching the only school with a participating team in the competition.  KSEF is Korea’s preliminary competition for seeding contestants to attend international science fairs for Korea.  After two days of competition, Senior 1 student Sin Ka Chon won the Gold Award and the Special Award with his Multi-Functional Intelligent Autonomous Underwater Vehicle.  Senior 1 students Mok Chi Kin and Lei In Hei won the Silver Award and two Special Awards with their Robot for the Self-Supporting Elderly.

In addition to our award-winning students, Ms. Kou Weng Si also won the Excellent Instructor’s Award at the Festival.

 

A total of 4647 videos from Hong Kong, Macau, and 31 provinces, districts and cities of Mainland China entered for the 10th National Youth Science Video Festival.  140 videos entered the finals of the competition.  56 videos won the First Prize, 76 the Second Prize, 2890 the Third Prize, and 19 videos received the “Science Kaleidoscope” Best Individual Video Award.
