The Pui Ching 130th Anniversary and Alumni Day celebration was held at 7：30 this evening in the Fisherman’s Wharf Convention and Exhibition Center.  The celebration hosted nearly 2,000 guests, including the Chief Executive of Macau Dr. Chui Sai On, Vice-Chairman of the National Political Consultative Conference Mr. Ho Hau Wah, Deputy Director of the China Liaison Office of Macau Mr. Luo Yong Gang, Special Commissioner of the Foreign Affairs Office Ms. Shen Pei Li, Director of Political Affairs of the Macau Garrison of the People’s Liberation Army Mr. Dou Guo Jie, Director of the Bureau of Societal and Cultural Affairs Mr. Tam Chon Weng, representatives of the Pui Ching Alumni Association from different parts of the world, various representatives in the field of education, alumni of the school, and teachers and students.  Dr. Chui Sai On and Mr. Ho Hau Wah served as the officiating guests in the birthday cake cutting ceremony.

During the dinner, alumni from different parts of the world and students took turns performing for the guests.  Alumni in the music industry wrote the song “Utmost goodness, utmost righteousness”for the school anniversary.  The Secondary School Dance Team performed the Tibetan dance “The beat of the heart”, which illustrated the people’s love for their city and country.  The school’s Jazz Orchestra also played various popular songs for the audience.  Everyone had school publications and souvenirs to take home for the night.

Principal Kou Kam Fai expressed that Pui Ching’s success cannot be separated from the hard work and perseverance of our predecessors.  Our accomplishments today are the work of generations of teachers, students and alumni.  The 130th anniversary celebration of the school not only brought together alumni from different walks of life and talents in different fields of society, but it also gave us the opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the school over its 130 years of history.

The school hosted a series of events in commemoration of its 130th anniversary, including the water sports meet, academic conferences, the poster exhibition, class observations, thanksgiving worship, game booths, the issuance of anniversary publications and remembrance envelopes, and the celebration dinner.  The events would not have been possible without the hard work of every member of the school.  Many thanks to everyone who helped make the anniversary a success!

The Macao S.A.R. government awarded medals of honor and certificates of merit on November 22^nd to outstanding individuals who were recognized for their personal accomplishments, social contributions, and service to Macao.  Medals of honor are conferred to individuals and entities who have made significant contributions to the image, reputation or development of the Macao Special Administrative Region.  Honorary Member of the Board of Directors of Pui Ching Mr. Lio Chak Wan received the Medalhas de honra de Lótus de Ouro, and Honorary Member of the Board of Directors Mr. Chan Chak Mou received the Medalhas de honra de Lótus de Prata.

Award-winning students in the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), in the National Youth Science and Technology Innovation Competition, and student inventers who were awarded for their Phoroptor for Student Myopia all received certificates of merit for their outstanding achievements.  Award-winners at the ISEF included Lei Hei I and Fong Su (Instructor: Man Hou Nin) and Fong Chon Hei, Hoi Hoi Ian, and Leong Weng I (Instructors: Io Hio Fai, Leong Ieng Ieng).  Award-winners for the Phoroptor for Student Myopia included Mok Hoi Chon and Wong Hou Wang (Instructor: Kou Weng Si).  Lao Chio Long was the award-winner in the National Youth Science and Technology Innovation Competition (Instructor: Lao Kun Wa).  The student inventors received heartfelt congratulations from Principal Kou and our school directors at the awards ceremony.

Pui Ching students have always enjoyed diverse paths for college opportunities, including those for renowned universities around the world.  To help students better understand the development of graduates from local higher institutions in the Great Bay Area, Mainland China and in the world, Macao Pui Ching Middle School held a University Presidents Seminar during its 130^th anniversary.  The Seminar was hosted by Director Sou Chio Fai of the Macao Higher Education Bureau and discussed the life of and resources available to local and non-local students studying at the four higher institutions of Macao.  The seminar also discussed the strengths and shortcomings of e-learning, maker education, artificial intelligence and foreign language learning.

The University Presidents Seminar was held in the Macao Pui Ching Middle School Assembly Hall at 9:30am on November 22^nd.  Guests included Vice President of the University of Macao Professor Kot Wai, President of the Macao Institute for Tourism Studies Dr. Wong Chok Kuan, Vice President of the Macao Polytechnic Institute Dr. Lei Ngan Lin, and Vice President of the Macao University of Science and Technology Professor Pong Cyun.  The event attracted about 500 participants, including representatives in education from various regions and Senior 3 students of the school.

Artificial Intelligence is widely applied in various areas of our life and has become an important topic of discussion in education development.  As such, electronic learning and STEAM curricula have come into the limelight of education reform.  Where do we go from here?  The 130^th anniversary of Pui Ching Middle School bears witness to a series of academic events, including the Future of Education Round Table Conference.  We had the honor of the company of Mr. Seong Hoi Long, General Manager of Sense Time Technology Co, Hong Kong; Professor Sun Mao Song, Deputy Dean of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence of Tsinghua University; and various alumni representatives of Pui Ching Middle School.  The Conference was held in the afternoon of November 21^st at the Pui Ching Assembly Hall. 

Mr. Seong Hoi Long gave a talk on AI+, how artificial intelligence will be affecting every aspect of people’s lives, and the implications for education.  Professor Sun Mao Song discussed the role of artificial intelligence in Chinese culture and traditions.  He used the Game of Go and poetry as examples to illustrate the challenges faced by artificial intelligence.

Various Pui Ching alumni shared their experience in education at the conference: Dr. Wei Ya Jun of Zhuhai No. 1 Middle School talked about the development of STEM curricula in a typical senior high school; Vice-Principal of Qingdao Yinhai Education Corp. Ms. Wang Yan Bing discussed ocean education; Vice Principal of Tsinghua University Primary School Mr. Tang Wei Hong expounded on education reform in the face of changing times, and Assistant Director of Sichuan Nanshan Secondary School Mr. Zheng Ling Yun shared his experience with technological innovations and multiple intelligence education.  Chinese Department Director Ms. Mak Chi Kei of Pui Ching Middle School discussed the preservation of Chinese culture in the age of technology.

Discussions at the Conference evolved around such topics as E-Learning, STEAM Curricula and Artificial Intelligence Education, attracting 400 Pui Ching teachers and educators from various regions.
