Pui Ching comes out as champion in VEX Robot Engineering Challenge2017-10-15

The Macao VEX Robot Engineering Challenge took place yesterday. Pui Ching’s Team 5868A clinched the championship and our Team 5868C came in as the first runner-up and also received the Merit Award in the Junior Category.
Pui Ching awarded for highest percentage and number of blood donors2017-10-13

In the 2017 Blood Donors Awards Ceremony, Pui Ching received the Highest Percentage of Blood Donors Award and the Highest Number of Blood Donors Award among secondary schools. Having made 50 and 30 donations respectively, Pastor Au-yeung and Ms. Soi Ieng Lei were also recognized by the Blood Donation Center.
Students showcase their talent in Science Week2017-10-11

Pui Ching teachers and students attended the 2017 Science Fair. This year’s theme was Chinese civilization and Scientific Innovation. Primary 6 students took part in the opening ceremony in the morning and interacted with student presenters at the science fair. Senior secondary school students attended a talk in the afternoon on the theme of Underwater Robotics and STEM Education in Hong Kong. The Science Week lasted for five days and Pui Ching students played various roles at the event, including conducting presentations, facilitation with preparation work at different booths, and interaction with visitors at the game fair on Saturday. Many thanks to our teachers and students for making this year’s Science Fair a spectacular event!
Zhongshan, Tainan, Hong Kong and Macao Teacher-Student Exchange holds opening ceremony at Pui Ching2017-09-22

The 12th Zhongshan, Tainan, Hong Kong and Macao Teacher-Student Exchange was held in Macao from September 21st to 24th, 2017. This year’s theme was Youth, Dreams, Cross-Strait Bridge.
The opening ceremony for the event was held in Pui Ching on September 22nd. Directors and officers from various government offices attended the ceremony, including the Liaison Office of the PRC in Macao, Taiwan Affairs Office, Cultural Education Department, Cross-Strait Relations Affairs Office in Macao, Zhongshan Municipal Party Committee, and Macao Education and Youth Affairs Bureau. More than 230 school administrators, teachers and students from the four regions took part in the opening ceremony. The guests took a guided tour of the school facilities.
The four-day exchange featured Chinese performance art pieces, student exchange activities, the opportunity to experience different school cultures, and trips in the quest of Macao’s history of humanity. Students perceived the event as an invaluable cultural and interpersonal experience. Teachers and students expressed that the activities had been a great learning opportunity and both reaped friendships dear to them.
Cross-strait teacher-student exchange events started in 2006, and with the participation of the Tainan Advanced Business Vocational School and Macao Pui Ching Middle School this year, the event was moved to Macao. Over the years, over 1,000 teachers and students have benefited from the platform for the promotion of learning, friendship and common development.
In the performance art competitions after the opening ceremony, the Pui Ching Dance Team won the First Prize, and the Pui Ching Jazz Band won the Second Prize.
Campus Service Robot Education and Research Laboratory opens on September 18th2017-09-18

Communic Macao and Pui Ching Middle School held the unveiling ceremony for the Macao Campus Service Robot Education and Research Laboratory on September 18th.
Principal Kam Fai Kou mentioned in his address the positive results of STEM and robotics education since 2012. He extended his gratitude to Communic Macao for donating the service robot Nature’s Mystery to Pui Ching. The establishment of the Campus Service Robot Education and Research Laboratory in response to the S.A.R. government’s promotion of education diversification and innovation is believed to have taken STEM education at Pui Ching to its new height.
The Macao Campus Service Robot Education and Research Laboratory in combination with the Campus Management System will launch services such as facial-recognition punch-ins and school patrol. More services are to be incorporated into the current system in the future. Students had the opportunity to interact with the locally made service robots after the ceremony and the interactive session became a highlight of the morning. Communic Macao also shared with the students the classification of different robots, their functions and their rapid development in history.
Communic Macao is established by the Macao University of Science and Technology to promote the commercialization of research products. It aims to mass produce service robots by combining the merits of domestic robots and robots abroad. Pui Ching’s cooperation with Communic Macao is expected to further promote STEM education in Macao.
