Students clinch three championships in Robofest Macao Regional Competition2018-03-25

The Robofest 2018 Macao Regional Competition was held at Pui Ching Middle School yesterday.  Student contestants from Pui Ching worked under the supervision of their instructor Mr. Un Kuok Chin and performed brilliantly at the competition. 

 

In the Bottle Sumo Robot Wrestling Contest, Red and Blue Team F consisted of Junior High students Mr. Chong Keng Cheong, Mr. Wong Hou Cheng, and Mr. Chang Cheng Hei and won the championship in the Junior Category.  Red and Blue Team G consisted of Ms. Chu In In and Mr. Li Chan Weng and came in at the Fourth Place in the Junior Category. 

 

In the UMC Robotics Challenge, Red and Blue Team B consisted of Mr. Pang Tin Long and Mr. Lao Ka Haen and came in as the champion in the Junior Category.  Red and Blue Team C consisted of Mr. Qi Chan On, Mr. Wong Yin Long, and Mr. Lau Meng Hei and won the Third Place in the Junior Category.  Red and Blue Team A with Mr. Ieong Hoi Him and Mr. Ip Chon Kio came in at the Fourth Place in the Junior Category. 

 

In the RoboParade Innovative Robots Parade, the Red and Blue Team was comprised of Mr. Mak Hiu Wang, Mr. Ho Kuan Weng, Mr. Tang Chi Ian, Mr. Law On Ying, and Mr. Chang Chi Lok and clinched the championship in the Junior Category. 

 

Pui Ching was the only school in Macao to win the championship in all three contests.  Four of Pui Ching’s teams entered the finals and will be participating in the international competition in Detroit in mid-May.

The Primary Section of the Inter-School Singing Competition was held this morning and Pui Ching’s Team A and Team B both won the Merit Award.

The Inter-School Singing Competition was held tonight and the Pui Ching Choir won the Merit Award in the Secondary Category.

Pui Ching students won various awards in the 41st Inter-School Track and Field Competition.  Ms. Lam Si Lok of Primary 6D came in as the champion with a record-breaking time of 8.38 seconds in the Individual Women’s Category D 60-meter race.  Ms. Lam was also the second runner-up in the long jump, winning the general championship in the same category.  Other award-winning students include:

Women’s Category B 1500-meter Race: U Lok Lam (S3B) (2nd Place)

Women’s Category C 60-meter Hurdle Race: Ku Hio Cheng (S1B) (1st Place)

Students win Best Engineers Award in FRC Robotics Shenzhen Regional Competition2018-03-10

The Pui Ching FRC Robotics Team attended the FRC Robotics Shenzhen Regional Competition held in the Shenzhen University City.  Held by FIRST Robotics of the United States, The FRC Robotics Competition is a top competition with 29 years of history.  Almost 10,000 teams have participated in the competition, including the Pui Ching Robotics Team, which has taken part in contests in Las Vegas as well as Hawaii.  The FRC Robotics Competition had two competition venues established in Shanghai and Shenzhen of China.  The Shenzhen Regional Competition this year saw contestants from Poland, Turkey, the U.K., China, etc.  The Pui Ching Robotics Team entered the finals as the fourth seed and the captain of the united league and won the Best Engineers Award from 35 contestant teams.
