Student invited to training program at Chinese Academy of Sciences2023-09-20

Our Senior 2 student Ho Ian Wa won the Science Innovation Award at the 37th National Youth Science and Technology Innovation Competition. Furthermore, she was invited to a one-year Life Science Follow-Up Training Program offered by experts from the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.  During this program, she will have the opportunity to engage with top scholars in the field in exchange and learning activities.

 

Ms. Ho was a representative of Macao in the 37th National Youth Science and Technology Innovation Competition held in Wuhan in mid-August.  She won various awards with her project titled "Supramolecular Aggregation and Fusion Targeting Acidic Vesicles," including the First Prize, the Science Innovation Award, and the Youth Science and Technology Innovation Special Award from Huazhong Agricultural University.

 

Pui Ching students clinch silver, bronze in International Mathematical Olympiad2023-09-16

Four students from our school represented Macao in the 64th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) and received one silver medal, two bronze medals, and one honorable mention, producing the fifth player in Macao to win a silver medal in the history of the competition. The results also represent Macao's best performance in 7 years.

 

The International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) was held in Chiba Prefecture, Japan, where our participants competed with 618 contestants from 112 countries and regions. Our students excelled in the competition. Ip Chon Hou won the silver medal, U Kwok Wai and Lam Wang Iok received bronze medals, and Un Chong Un received the honorable mention. Their instructors were Mr. Lao Sio Meng and Mr. Leong Kan Chun. Mr. Lao Sio Meng was also a supervising teacher for the event.

Pui Ching students win top award at 3rd Youth Patent Incubation Exhibition2023-09-12

The 3rd Youth Patent Incubation Exhibition at the China International Intelligent Industry Expo was held in Chongqing from September 4th to 6th. Pui Ching students Mok Hoi Fai and Lo Sio Sang participated in the event under the guidance of Mr. Wu Chon Meng, Director of our Mathematics Department and AI Education Coordinator.  This year’s exhibition received 387 entries nationally and internationally, with a total of 88 selected works displayed at the venue.

 

Senior 3 students Mok Hoi Fai and Lo Sio Sang collaborated under the guidance of their instructor, Mr. Wu Chon Meng. Their project, A Color Blindness Analyzer Based on Color Mixing Principles, won the highest award, the Gold Award. The student inventors were invited to give a presentation on their work at the event. At the closing ceremony, Mr. Lo was also invited to deliver the closing speech and share his insights and process of invention with the audience, encouraging young people to firmly hold on to their passion for science.

 

Other students that were recognized at the exhibition for their inventions included Wu Ka Wai, Pun Chi Kin, Leong Pok Hei, and Wong Hou Wa, who worked under the guidance of their instructor Mr. Chan Ka Kong. Their project, The Application of Three-Dimensional Ordered Macroporous Catalyst in Hydrogen Evolution Reaction, received the Silver Award.

Pui Ching student wins gold medal in China Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad2023-09-08

Pui Ching student Chu Wai In represented Macao in the 22nd China Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad (CGMO) and won the gold medal. This was the only gold medal won by a representative of Macao in this year’s competition and has been the second gold medal won by the Macao team to date. The first gold was won in 2016 by another representative from our school.

 

Ms. Chu’s instructor was Mr. Leong Kan Chun.  Congratulations to Ms. Chu and Mr. Leong!

 

Pui Ching students win first and second place in Guangzhou Gomoku Open Competition2023-08-30

The 2023 Guangzhou Gomoku Open Competition came to a close on August 20.  The competition attracted skilled players from various cities such as Shenzhen, Foshan, Jiangmen, Hong Kong, and Macao.  Among the contestants were former bronze medalists in world championships and winners of the top three places in national competitions.  Secondary 2A student Ng Cheng Hei emerged as the champion in the youth category with a perfect record of seven wins.  Meanwhile, Secondary 2E student Lei Un Hou secured the second place.
