Student clinches two championships in Ningbo Paper Plane Competition 2018-10-06

Macao representatives joined the 8th Ningbo Paper Plane Challenge.  Pui Ching student Lin Seng Iao won the Straight Line Championship and the Free Time Championship.

 

Mr. Lin was particularly outstanding in the Straight Line Competition.  His plane flew into a 2-meter-tall wall after traveling a distance of 40 meters.

 

In the finals, his plane flew a distance of 48 meters, only 0.2 meters behind the national record.  Also, in the Free Time Competition, he scored a competitive record of 14.08 seconds.

STEM Summit Forum discusses innovative education2018-09-29

The 2018 STEM and Technological Innovation Education International Summit Forum opened the day before yesterday. The forum aims to promote STEM education and curriculum reform.

 

The opening ceremony was held at 9:30 on September 27th at the assembly hall of Pui Ching Middle School.  Director Chui Sai Ping of the Macao University of Science and Technology commended Pui Ching for promoting science literacy among youths and expressed hope that the university will work with Pui Ching in the future to create a platform for academic exchange.

 

Principal Kou Kam Fai pointed out that STEM has been incorporated into the school’s regular curriculum since 2012 and that the school will continue to focus on whole person education and innovation in education.

 

Vice Chief Secretary Zheng Si Chen of the China Welfare Society Children’s Palace commended Pui Ching for the excellent results its students achieved the previous year in the National Youth STEAM Innovation Exhibition and Exchange Activities. She also expressed gratitude for the amazing turnout among Pui Ching students in this year’s event. She believes that the current forum is conducive to the promotion of STEM education.

 

The current forum was held in Zhuhai and Macao for two days. The theme was New Angle, New Practice, New Brand.  The Macao forum featured reports on special topics, class observation, class discussion and workshops.  Over 100 specialists shared their research results, research progress, thoughts and experience on STEM.

 

The success of the forum relied on the cooperation of various fields and will be crucial to the promotion of STEM education in the future.

Pui Ching becomes sister school with Beihai No. 2 Experimental School 2018-09-28

Pui Ching Middle School and Beihai No. 2 Experimental School of Guangxi became sister schools and conducted their contract-signing ceremony at Beihai No. 2 Experimental School yesterday morning.  The ceremony marks the beginning of the two schools’ cooperation in cultural and academic exchange.  Principal Kuok Keng Man of Pui Ching Middle School and Principal Hu Wei Qiong of Beihai No. 2 Experimental School signed the contract which sealed the bond between the two schools.

 

Beihai No. 2 Experimental School was founded in 2014 under the 2010-2020 National Medium/Long-Term Education Reform and Development Scheme and the Guangxi Reform and Rejuvenation of Education Scheme.  It aims to promote education reform and provide high-quality education.  The school is located in Beihai and takes up an area of 54 acres.  The classrooms, laboratories, sports fields and other facilities are modern and the school is one of the “green schools” of the country.

Beihai No. 2 Experimental School boasts an impressive faculty comprised of teaching staff with Master’s qualifications, graduates of renowned universities, and experienced teachers and department directors. 

 

The school features smart management, e-education and standardized class size.  Its teaching philosophy is compassion, joy, breadth of learning and grace.  Features of the curriculum involve (a) foundation courses that meet the education bureau’s requirements, (b) whole-person education, and (c) courses that aim to develop practical skills.  It is hoped that the curriculum will produce well-rounded individuals that have practical and innovative abilities and a global mindset.
