Pui Ching String Orchestra puts on performance at School Band Music Festival2017-07-16

The 3rd Mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao School Band Music Festival was held in Hong Kong on July 14 and 15.  The Pui Ching String Orchestra participated in the music festival with various school bands from Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Taiwan and put on a joint performance with fellow schools.  The young artists’ mesmerizing music won them thunderous applause.

 

The first day of the music festival was devoted to the participating schools’ respective renditions.  The Pui Ching String Orchestra played Handel-Halvorsen Passacaglia.  Senior 1 student Ms. Pui In Ip conducted the orchestra.

 

On the second day of the music festival was the Inter-School Productions Concert, which featured

Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 2 in B-flat major and Act II of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker.

 

Both concerts had the pleasure of the company of Pui Ching principal Dr. Kam Fai Kou and vice-principal Mr. Keng Man Kuok.

 

 

 

VEX Robotics Team joins 2017 Big Bay Area Robotics Elite Invitational2017-07-12

Under the supervision of teachers Mr. Hao Nian Min and Mr. Kit Seng Tang, the Pui Ching VEX Robotics Team attended the 2017 Guangdong—Hong Kong—Macao Big Bay Area Robotics Elite Invitational Competition hosted by the Asia Robotics League and held in Hong Kong on July 29.  Most participating teams were from Hong Kong, Macao, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan and Foshan.  The VEX Team stood out from the crowd with the Best Structure Award and the Second Prize.

The Joy of Wood Engraving is an exhibition of works from secondary school students of Pui Ching Middle School.  It was hosted by Pui Ching Middle School and sponsored by the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau.  The opening ceremony was held at noon today at the Youth Art House.

 

All works of display in the current exhibition were created by students of the Pui Ching Wood Engraving Club and expressed the creators’ perceptions of changes in the environment, environmental conservation, and other issues of personal interest to the young artists. 

 

Pui Ching has always been an ardent advocate of all-round education.  It aims to promote student development in morals, intellect, physical education, interpersonal communication, aesthetics and religious education through different extra-curricular activities.  Student engagement in the creative process of wood engraving and the preparation for the exhibition helped to boost their confidence and motivated them to continue with their creative work.

The Pui Ching String Orchestra attended the Youth Orchestra Music Festival held at noon today at the St. Dominic’s Church.

Hong Kong-Macao Youth Internet Skills Competition held yesterday2017-07-09

The 2017 Hong Kong-Macao Youth Internet Skills Competition was jointly held by Cisco Systems, Inc. Hong Kong, the HKU School of Professional and Continuing Education, the AiTLE Association of I.T. Leaders in Education, the Macao Productivity and Technology Transfer Center, the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education, and the Hong Kong Pui Ching Academy.  Pui Ching students Ms. U Wa Chan, Mr. In Chon Choi, and Mr. Seong Hin Lou won the Silver Award.  When Interviewed, Senior 3 student Ms. U Wa Chan said this was the first time she participated in the competition.  She started attending a Cisco Systems hobby class at Pui Ching at the beginning of the school year due to her interest in Internet safety issues, and she found winning the Silver Award in her first attempt to be very encouraging.
