Students awarded at National English Speaking Competition Macao Regional Contest2016-11-13

The 15th Macao-wide English Speech Contest & the 22nd “21st Century Cup” National English Speaking Competition (Macao Regional Contest) was held on November 13th in the Macao Polytechnic Institute. Pui Ching student Ms. Oi Wa Cheang was the second runner-up in the Senior Primary School Section and received the Chinese-Medium Primary School Best Speech Award. Students who received the Merit Award are as follows:

Students produce award-winning work at Hard-Tipped Pen Calligraphy Contest2016-11-12

Secondary School students attended the 16th Macao Student Hard-Tipped Pen Calligraphy Contest in Celebration of the 17th Anniversary of the Founding of the Macao Special Administrative Region hosted by the General Association of Chinese Students of Macao. Pui Ching Junior 3B student Ms. Si Cheng Chen and Senior 1A student Mr. U Hou Chau respectively received the First Prize in the Junior and Senior High School Categories. 2 Pui Ching students received the Second Prize, and 24 students in total entered the Semi-Final Contest.
One Gold, Three Silvers, One Bronze clinched at Nuremberg International Trade Fair 2016-10-30

The 68th International Trade Fair “Ideas-Inventions-New Products-iENA” was held in Nuremberg. Primary 6A student Ms. Tak Kei Kou received a Gold Award; Junior 1C student Mr. Tin Ian Mak, Junior 1D student Mr. Pui Hei Chung, and Primary 6D student Mr. Pak Ian Ho received Silver Awards; Primary 6C student Mr. Wang Chon Tai won a Bronze Award.
Students visit 150th Anniversary of Birth of Dr. Sun Yat-sen Photo Exhibition.2016-10-27

Students visited the 150th Anniversary of the Birth of Dr. Sun Yat-sen Photo Exhibition hosted by the Macao S.A.R. government under the supervision of their teachers. Through this field trip, student participants deepened their understanding of history, their country and region. The chief executive of Macao took a group photo with everyone at the event.
Students clinch highest award at 1st International Youth Science Fair for Discovery Videos2016-10-22

The 1st International Youth Science Fair for Discovery Videos hosted by the American Youth Science and Engineering Association and the Hong Kong Youth Science Academy was held in Boston from September 29th to October 7th, attracting youth participants and science enthusiasts the world over.
Pui Ching high school students Mr. Chi Lung Wong and Mr. Man Hon Lok participated in the semi-final contest in August and was qualified for the final contest hosted by the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. The contest aimed at youth science education through digital imaging and provided a platform for talented young scientists to exchange ideas and showcase their discoveries. Mr. Chi Lung Wong attended the contest under the guidance of his teacher Mr. Kun Wa Lao and received the honour of the First Prize—the highest award among a total of 106 nominated works. Mr. Wong also received the Exemplary Research Award and the Best Innovation Award from the Chinese Foundation.
Mr. Wong’s work documented the journey of Pui Ching’s Underwater Robotics Team in its research on 3rd generation underwater robots. The video also recorded interviews of the young inventors on their experience with research and perspective on science, as well as the course of the team’s activities entering their work into various international youth science contests.
During the competition, teacher and students also attended various talks at the International Innovation Education Forum at Harvard University, including a lecture on “Boston—the Birthplace of Legends of Innovation”. They also had the opportunity to exchange ideas with MIT students on “garage innovations” and tour the Phillips Academy to learn about innovation education in American high schools.
The 21st Century is an age of technology and innovation. To pique the interests of youths in areas of science, technology, society, engineering as well as mathematics (STS, STEM), Pui Ching is dedicated to creating various international platforms for its students to exchange ideas on science and innovation, broadening student horizons in different fields of research.
