Students clinch highest award at 1st International Youth Science Fair for Discovery Videos2016-10-22

The 1st International Youth Science Fair for Discovery Videos hosted by the American Youth Science and Engineering Association and the Hong Kong Youth Science Academy was held in Boston from September 29th to October 7th, attracting youth participants and science enthusiasts the world over.
Pui Ching high school students Mr. Chi Lung Wong and Mr. Man Hon Lok participated in the semi-final contest in August and was qualified for the final contest hosted by the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. The contest aimed at youth science education through digital imaging and provided a platform for talented young scientists to exchange ideas and showcase their discoveries. Mr. Chi Lung Wong attended the contest under the guidance of his teacher Mr. Kun Wa Lao and received the honour of the First Prize—the highest award among a total of 106 nominated works. Mr. Wong also received the Exemplary Research Award and the Best Innovation Award from the Chinese Foundation.
Mr. Wong’s work documented the journey of Pui Ching’s Underwater Robotics Team in its research on 3rd generation underwater robots. The video also recorded interviews of the young inventors on their experience with research and perspective on science, as well as the course of the team’s activities entering their work into various international youth science contests.
During the competition, teacher and students also attended various talks at the International Innovation Education Forum at Harvard University, including a lecture on “Boston—the Birthplace of Legends of Innovation”. They also had the opportunity to exchange ideas with MIT students on “garage innovations” and tour the Phillips Academy to learn about innovation education in American high schools.
The 21st Century is an age of technology and innovation. To pique the interests of youths in areas of science, technology, society, engineering as well as mathematics (STS, STEM), Pui Ching is dedicated to creating various international platforms for its students to exchange ideas on science and innovation, broadening student horizons in different fields of research.
Pui Ching wins group championship in the 5th Macao Inter-school Piano Competition2016-10-10

Pui Ching won the group championship in the 5th Macao Inter-school Piano Competition co-hosted by the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and the Macao Youth Musician Association. Primary 6 student Ms. Ning Ieong won the championship and the Best Performance Award in the Macau student open category, the Primary 6 championship in the general category, and the championship in the primary school category B. Other award winners were as follows: Junior 3 students Mr. Ka Chon Ng and Mr. Hoi Chon Mok were the champion and the second-runner up in the general category; Junior 2 student Ms. Ion Cheng Un was the Junior 2 second runner-up in the general category; Junior 1 student Mr. Iao Hoi Leong won the 4th place in the Junior 1 general category; Primary 6 student Mr. Chi Wang Tam came in the 4th place in the Primary 6 general category; Primary 5 student Mr. U Hoi Gao was the second runner-up in the Primary 5 general category; Primary 3 student Ms. Sin Wa Chan was the first runner-up in the Primary 3 general category; Primary 1 students Mr. In Lok Ho, Ms. Wing Lam Si, and Ms. Wing Ting Si won the championship, the 4th place, and the 5th place respectively in the Primary 1 general category; Kindergarten 1 student Mr. Hok Cheng Chan won the 5th place in the kindergarten general category.
The awards ceremony was held in the Venetian Hotel on October 9. Vice-principal Dr. Keng Man Kuok was invited to be the master of ceremonies, and Primary 6 student Ms. Ning Ieong was invited to give a solo recital at the ceremony. Many congratulations to our award winners this year!

Pui Ching received the bronze medal in the Macau Inter-school Tug of War Contest.
Student wins second prize at National Children’s Poetry Competition2016-09-16

Pui Ching students attended the National Literary Creation Competition—the Second Jiangsu National Children’s Poetry Competition. The theme this year was Childlike Innocence and Senior 1 student Ms. Di Yu was the first student in Macau to receive an award. Her “My childhood dream” was chosen among 42,775 works of literature and won the second prize. Her instructor Mr. Chi Meng Chan received the Excellent Teacher’s Award.

The 2016 Teacher’s Day Commemorative Stamps Issuing Ceremony cum School Video Clip, Poster and Cartoon Exhibition Opening Ceremony was held on Sept. 10. Pui Ching Junior 3 student Ms. Weng Sam Lou and Junior 1 student Mr. Chi Kin Mok were the first runners-up in the poster category. Primary 6 student Mr. Ting Lai Chan was the second runner-up in the same category. Primary 5 student Mr. Hiu Ming Yun was the first runner-up in the cartoon category. In addition, twelve students entered the finals for the video clip, poster, and cartoon category respectively.
