Pui Ching Middle School and Zhuhai No. 1 Middle School become sister schools2018-07-18

On July 18th, Principal Kou Kam Fai, Vice-Principal Chan Keng Lim, teachers and students of Macao Pui Ching Middle School warmly welcomed Vice-Principal Zhao Xin, Secretary Wang Xiao Yue and their entourage from Zhuhai No. 1 Middle School and gave them a tour of the school facilities.  The two schools engaged in a contract signing ceremony and became sister schools.

 

The guests from Zhuhai No. 1 Middle School then visited Pui Ching’s China Culture House, Innovative Science House and the library and had a tour of the collections and facilities within. 

 

During the contract signing ceremony, Principal Kou Kam Fai introduced the school’s course of development, academic accomplishments, the students’ curricula and their outstanding achievements in post-secondary education, competitions and international exchange activities.  Principal Kou expressed that both schools are located in the Great Bay Area and share similar cultures and the same language.  A group of students from Pui Ching previously had the pleasure of engaging in academic exchange with Zhuhai No. 1 Middle School and it is hoped that teachers and students will have more of such opportunities in the future.  Lastly, Principal Kou quoted Chairman Xi Jin Ping, “The new era belongs to everyone”, to encourage students from the two schools to learn from each other, grasp the opportunities presented to them and create their own era.

 

Vice-Principal Zhao Xin believes that Pui Ching’s academic excellence is noteworthy.  She indicated that Zhuhai and Macao are neighbors and their cooperation has demonstrative effects.  China now has various policies such as the One Belt One Road Initiative and the Great Bay Area.  Schools shoulder the responsibility of educating the next generation and the current bond between the schools is expected to build new platforms for students.

14-year-old Pui Ching student Mr. Mak Tin Ian won the championship in the Macao Men’s Advanced Table Tennis Singles Competition, making him the youngest champion in the history of the competition.

Director of Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government visits Pui Ching2018-07-07

Director Zheng Xiao Song of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government visited Pui Ching on July 6th.  Pui Ching Chancellor Lo Wing Cheong, Principal Kou Kam Fai, Vice-Principal Kuok Keng Man, and Vice-Principal Chan Keng Lim showed Director Zheng around the school.

 

Director Zheng and his entourage visited Pui Ching’s Innovative Science Lab and China Culture House.  The guests observed students in class and studied the award-winning works of the students.  At the China Culture House, they listened to a student performance on the zither during tea and immersed themselves in the traditional culture.  The guests also enjoyed the performance of the secondary school dance team and applauded the graceful moves of the young dancers.

 

Principal Kou introduced the development of the school and the students’ academic accomplishments, both at school and in the international arena.  He pointed out that the school’s work in moral education and emphasis on extra-curricular activities are inseparable from the students’ achievements in science, cultural studies and sports. 

 

Director Zheng commended Pui Ching on its education philosophy and expressed hope that (a) Pui Ching maintain the quality of its cultural and science education, (b) Pui Ching increase its cooperation with schools in the Mainland, and (c) the school encourage students to learn about career prospects in the Great Bay Area. 

 

Other visiting guests include Director of the Education Bureau Xu Ting, Director of the General Office Ji De Chang, Director of the Youth Affairs Office Wu Yang Fan, Director’s Assistant of the Education and Youth Affairs Office Qu Xiao Yan, Deputy Director of the Education and Youth Affairs Office Shi Lei, Secretary of the General Office Zhang Dong Hui, and Assistant of the Education and Youth Affairs Office Zhang Chuan Wei.

China Story Cultural Exchange between Pui Ching and P.R.C. troops stationed in Macao2018-06-25

300 teachers and students from Pui Ching attended a military camp in Taipa and joined the China Story Cultural Exchange with the P.R.C. troops stationed in Macao.

 

Live Performance Brought Forth by the Troops:

 

The P.R.C. troops performed military ceremonies for the opening ceremony of the event.  The Pui Ching Dance Team and the Macao Amateur Art Ensemble took turns performing for the audience following the opening ceremony.  Their dance, Sichuan Opera, and military music performance all showcased China’s traditional culture and the talents of the performers.  The graceful dance moves of the Pui Ching Dance Team also won thunderous applause from the audience.

 

The Call of the Wind:

 

To salute the P.R.C. troops who engaged in large-scale relief efforts after Typhoon Hato, the Pui Ching Dance Team created the dance The Call of the Wind and staged the troops’ post-typhoon efforts.  The Macao Amateur Art Ensemble staged Three Days and Three Nights to convey the rescue efforts of the troops in the natural disaster.

 

To Foster Students’ Love of their Country and Region:

 

Principal Kou Kam Fai believes this activity is conducive to the students’ understanding of their heritage and history.

 

Participating guests included Deputy Chief of Staff of the Liberation Army in Macao Colonel Gao Zhi Jun, Director of the General Office Colonel Peng Wei, Director of the Propaganda Security Department Colonel Wen Zhi Zhong, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office Propaganda and Cultural Department Wen Shao Bin, Director of the Macao Education and Youth Affairs Bureau Leong I On, and Director and Deputy Director of the Macao China Culture Association Youth Commission Leong Ka Ming and Leong Kim Tan.
