Pui Ching Dance Team arrives in Portugal.2017-01-19

The Macao Pui Ching Middle School Dance Team joined the 2017 Happy Spring Festival Gala in Portugal. The team had the pleasure of the company of Education Bureau Chief Ms. Wai Kei Leong and Director Mr. Zang Chi Wong on their trip to Portugal. The students also received warm welcomes from the president, the secretary-general, as well as the chief supervisor of the Macao China-Portugal Dance and Art Association.
Pui Ching student application rate to Mainland universities highest in years2017-01-17

Continuing one’s education in prestigious universities in the Mainland has been many students’ dream. The increase in student intake this year by Mainland universities has been exciting news to local students. Many Pui Ching students with the interest to pursue these opportunities are encouraged to apply for school recommendation for direct admission if their grades meet the requirement. The application rate for school recommendation has increased this year to five times the rate last year.
In this morning’s weekly assembly, Principal Kam Fai Kou encouraged students accepted into universities through school recommendation to make the best of this learning opportunity. Pui Ching alumnus Mr. Ka Chon Leong returned to Pui Ching in the afternoon to share his student experience at Fudan University of Shanghai with current students of Pui Ching. He talked about the strong academic climate in Mainland universities and expressed that he would make the same choice if he were asked to choose a university again.
Three Pui Ching teachers receive Distinguished Teacher’s Award2017-01-14

The 2015/16 Distinguished Teacher’s Award ceremony was held this morning. Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Society and Culture Mr. Chon Weng Tam presented the Award to 15 distinguished teachers in Macao. Many congratulations to distinguished Pui Ching teachers Mr. Chuen Ki Too, Mr. Chan Ip Kuok and Mr. Hong Kuan Tam!

On January 13th, Ministry of Education Office for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Director Ms. Jin Liu visited Pui Ching with Central People's Government Liaison Office (Macao) Department of Culture and Education Deputy Director Mr. Hai-long Pu, the State Council’s Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office Division of Communications Chief Ms. Jing Zhao, Ministry of Education Office for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Deputy Division Chief Mr. Hai-feng Liu, Central People's Government Liaison Office (Macao) Department of Culture and Education Deputy Division Chief Mr. Jian-bo Xin, and Ministry of Education Office for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Coordinator Ms. Jun Zhang.
The guests toured in-house facilities such as the school library, the LEGO Education STEM Laboratory, the Chinese Culture House and the Fabrication Laboratory. Students introduced the school history and student life in Pui Ching and held a Chinese zither recital in the Culture House. In her speech, Director Jin Liu commended Pui Ching on its many accomplishments in education over the years and expressed hope that Pui Ching can continue to make significant contributions to the field of education.
Consul General of Portugal in Macao and Hong Kong Mr. Vitor Sereno visit Pui Ching2017-01-09
Consul General of Portugal in Macao and Hong Kong Mr. Vitor Sereno and Macao Portuguese Oriental Institute director Mr. Joao Neves visited Pui Ching on January 9th.
Mr. Vitor Sereno and Mr. Joao Neves arrived at Pui Ching in the afternoon and toured the China Culture House at school. The China Culture House featured educational historical items such as Chinese fabric, implements of traditional tea ceremony, local artefacts of Macau, etc. Among these items of display are found both student productions and alumni donations. A student guqin recital and a student rendition of the tea ceremony both added to the cultural experience. The visit to the Culture House was followed by a tour of the school Fabrication Laboratory. Approved by the Center for Bits and Atoms of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Puiching’s Fab Lab became a member of the international Fab Lab network in August, 2016. It is the first Fabrication Laboratory in Hong Kong and Macau and the second such laboratory among secondary schools in China. Students demonstrated for the guests how the laboratory equipment work. Cultural and technological elements of the tour showcased a juxtaposition of historical and scientific importance in Pui Ching’s curriculum.
Principal Dr. Kam Fai Kou pointed out that Pui Ching has always stressed the value of cultural literacy in education. Due to Macao’s unique historical background, Pui Ching has had teacher and student exchange activities with Portugal for 20 years; graduates of Pui Ching have also taken up further education opportunities in Portugal and served as cultural bridges upon completion of their studies.
Mr. Sereno highly commended Pui Ching on its contribution to education in various areas, such as providing guidance to students on further education, preparing students for standardized tests, affording students a sense of belonging at school, organization of alumni networking events and enabling a channel for alumni’s continual support for their alma mater.
