The 2022-2023 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Fencing Friendly Match was held at Pui Ching Middle School from April 22^nd to 23^rd.  Over 500 athletes participated in the event, including 61 teams from Macao, Hong Kong, and Guangdong Province.  Pui Ching won a total of 21 gold medals, 30 silver medals, and 36 bronze medals in the group competitions and a total of 2 gold medals, 4 silver medals, and 13 bronze medals in the individual competitions. 

Teachers and students of Macao Pui Ching Middle School attended the founding ceremony for the alumni association of the 2023 graduating class of Hong Kong Pui Ching Primary School.  The two schools took part in a friendly volleyball match in the morning.  Our students were given a tour of the facilities of Hong Kong Pui Ching Middle School, including the school TV station, smart classrooms, and STEM rooms.  Our students also had the opportunity to be a part of the school’s feature curricula and participate in a golf class.  Students of the two schools bonded over the fun-filled activities and learned much from each other.

In the Men's Group C volleyball finals, Pui Ching Middle School triumphed 2-0 over Yuet Wah College, winning the first inter-school volleyball championship this year. 

Pui Ching has always been supportive of the efforts of the Macao S.A.R. government in promoting bilingualism in Chinese and Portuguese and in leveraging Macao's advantages as a service platform for commercial and trade cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries. The Portuguese Language Day organized by Pui Ching Middle School was celebrated today, featuring various Portuguese-themed elements and promoting the use of the Portuguese language as well as the dissemination of Portuguese cultural knowledge.

During the opening ceremony, students put on wonderful performances.  A group of Junior 2 students sang the Portuguese song "Avião De Papel" (Paper Airplane), and a group of third and fourth-graders from the extended curriculum program produced an original Portuguese song, "Os Dias da Semana" (Days of the Week).  Senior 3 student Ieong Neng showcased her outstanding piano playing techniques in her piano solo; Senior 2 student Ho Kuan Weng recited Portuguese poetry for the audience.  Last but not least, the school’s brass band played various Portuguese songs, bringing the ceremony to a perfect conclusion.

Starting from 2011, Pui Ching has been systematically developing Portuguese language courses, providing students with a trilingual language learning platform. In recent years, the number of students enrolling in our Portuguese language courses and the number of students pursuing higher education programs in Portuguese have both increased. The number of students who have taken and passed the CAPLE Portuguese language proficiency test has also been rising.  In addition to offering Portuguese language courses, Pui Ching has been exploring different channels and building new platforms to facilitate students with their language learning efforts.  Through various Portuguese language activities, we believe we can cultivate a new generation of bilingual talents in Chinese and Portuguese.
