Teacher and students share research results at international conference at Fields Institute2023-08-27
Under the guidance of their instructor Mr. Lei Wai Sin, Senior 3 student Sio Kei Chon and Senior 2 student Cheng U Hin participated in the 33rd Annual International Conference of the Society for Chaos Theory in Psychology and the Life Sciences, which was held from August 2 to 4 at the Fields Institute of the University of Toronto. The conference featured workshops, lectures from special guests, and presentations from scholars and PhD and master’s students from countries such as the United States, Canada, France, the United Kingdom, and Turkey. Our students were the only high school team participating in the academic conference.
Mr. Lei and our students submitted a paper titled "Predator extinction arose from chaos of the prey: The chaotic behavior of a homomorphic two-dimensional logistic map in the form of Lotka-Volterra equations". They presented the paper during the group discussion on the morning of the third day of the conference.
Participation in the academic conference gave the students an opportunity to present their research results and engage with experts and scholars from top research institutions. It also allowed them to expand their horizons and discover future learning directions. Both teachers and students benefited greatly from the experience.
