Student wins highest award in Model G20 Virtual Summit2021-03-30

Secondary school students from dozens of countries and regions around the world entered for the 2021 Model G20 Virtual Summit.  From among thousands of candidates, a total of 8 students from Pui Ching Middle School successfully became the final 400 senior high delegates.  The theme of this year’s summit is Climate Change.  Delegates were assigned to different teams at random, attended lectures given by Harvard and Yale professors, participated in three weeks of group discussions, literature review, document preparation and public lectures.  In the process, our 8 contestants successfully overcame the time, language and cultural differences and finally, Ms. Lo Ka Ieng won the highest award as one of the Most Outstanding Delegates. 

 

Pui Ching students who participated in the event included Lo Ka Ieng (S6D), Lao Chin Ut (S2E), Wu Chou I (S2E), Mak Chi Son (S3A), Chan Kuan Wai (S4D), Chan Cheng Tong (S4D), Lo Weng Ka (S5B), and Chong Pui Hei (S5B).

Students win gold award in China regional finals of National Economics Challenge2021-03-28

The China regional finals of the 2021 National Economics Challenge were held in Nanjing from March 26 to 28.  Senior 2C students Lei Ian In, Lou Chu Un, Wong Io Hang, and Nga Leong Keng entered for the competition in the junior category and won the merit award for problem solving and gold award in the team written exam.  The National Economics Challenge is an economics competition for high school students from around the world.  Over 2800 contestants from international schools in China participated in the China regional finals.

Student becomes regional champion in Brain Bee World Championship2021-03-24

The Macao regional finals of the Brain Bee World Championship were held on March 20.  Contestants were required to answer questions in English within 90 seconds after the judges read the questions.  No second attempts at the questions were allowed.  Students from 12 secondary schools in Macao participated in the competition.  Pui Ching student Lao Sap Tou from Senior 2B won the grand championship.  He will be attending the Brain Bee World Championship at the end of the year as Macao’s only representative. 

Student athletes win five championships in Interschool Table Tennis Competition 2021-03-21

The finals of the Interschool Table Tennis Competition were held from March 20 to 21.  Our student athletes won five championships: Sou Chon Hei (Men’s Category B), Cheong Sio Fong (Men’s Category D), Lei Chon Long (Men’s Category E), Lei Guai Wai (Women’s Category C), and Cheong Chi Hun (Women’s Category D).  Other award-winners are as follows:

Fifth place in Men’s Category B: Cheong Chon Hin

Third place in Men’s Category C: Chan Hin In

Third place in Men’s Category D: Lei Tek Long

Fourth place in Men’s Category D: Lam Chi Ieong

Second place in Men’s Category E: Kuan Io Seng

Fourth place in Men’s Category E: Wan Teng Hou

Fifth place in Men’s Category E: Mak Chi Chon

Third place in Women’s Category B: Chan Si Cheng

Pui Ching students win highest award in Taiwan International Science Fair2021-03-17

Pui Ching Middle School entered two entries for the Taiwan International Science Fair, which consisted of 13 categories including Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Astronomy, Earth and Environmental Science, Biochemistry, etc.  Senior 2 students Sin Ka Chon and Mok Chi Kin and Junior 2 student Lao Chit won the first prize, the first place in the Engineering Category, the first place in the Non-Local Contestants Category, and the highest award, “The Youth Science Award”.  Their invention was the Multifunctional Intelligent Autonomous Underwater Vehicle, which aimed to perform search-and-rescue missions in the event of extreme weather conditions.  Senior 2 student Lei In Hei won the third prize in the Computer Category.  His invention was the “Deep Learning-Based Home Safety Perception System for Household Service Robots”.  The many awards won at the competition demonstrated the results of STEM education in recent years.  The instructors to the award winners included Mr. Lao Kun Wa, Mr. Leong Chong Man and Mr. Lam Kin Un.
