Students win championship in the Constitution and the Basic Law Knowledge Competition2020-11-28

The Constitution and the Basic Law Online Knowledge Competition for Macao Secondary School Students organized by the China Education Association was held this morning.  Five of our students worked under the instruction of Ms. Deng Yi Jing and entered for the competition, including Lei Hei I, Cheong Sin Mei, Kuan Weng Kei, Cheng Hoi Teng and Chan Kuan Wai.  After very intense competition, the students won the championship in the Senior High Category.

Pui Ching teachers Mr. Tou Chun Kei, Mr. Mou Kim In and Mr. Tong Wai received commendation certificates tonight at the 2020 Awards Ceremony for Teachers with 20 Years of Experience in Formative Education.  Ms. Mak Chi Kei, Ms. Si Hong Peng and Mr. Chan Chi Meng received commendation certificates for the Teacher Mentorship Program. 

Students win Gold Award in International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition 2020-11-23

Pui Ching students entered for the 2020/2021 International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition and won the Gold Award.

 

Over 500 teams of university and secondary school students from all over the world, including more than 6000 contestants, participated in the iGEM competition this year.  Due to the pandemic, this year’s competition was especially challenging because students were faced with problems such as school suspension, the closure of the laboratories, restrictions on the number of people allowed in the laboratory, challenges with the purchase of drugs, etc.  The hosting organization also made new requirements such as video and multi-media production.  Students attended virtual discussions with fellow contestants from all over the world and answered questions from the judges in real time.

The 24th National Inventions Exposition: The One Belt One Road and BRICS Technology Development and Innovations Challenge was held from November 19th to 21st in the Tanzhou International Exposition Center in Foshan.  Four Primary 6 students from Pui Ching introduced their works to participants from all over the country.  Their inventions stood out from among 2050 entries, winning the recognition of the judges.

Principal Kou shares STEM education experience at founding ceremony of Great Bay Area Principals Association2020-11-14

Principal Kou attended the founding ceremony for the 2020 Great Bay Area Secondary and Primary School Principals Association.  Almost 200 schools participated in the event.  Principal Kou was elected as a member of the administrative council.

 

During the forum, Principal Kou talked about “The responsibilities of the new era: How STEM opened doors for education at Pui Ching Middle School after the handover” and shared the Pui Ching experience with hundreds of educators from the Great Bay Area.  He introduced the background, principles, development, special features, extension platforms, and outcomes of the STEM curriculum.  Principal Kou also shared how to integrate Macao’s world heritage and China’s traditional culture with technology and help students appreciate our traditions.
