Pui Ching students rank top 10 in World Gomoku Teen Tournament2020-09-10

The 13th World Gomoku Teen Tournament held by the Renju International Federation gathered over 300 contestants from ten countries and regions, including China, Estonia, Russia, Turkey, Greece, Japan, and the Czech Republic.  Some contestants were seasoned players that are national or world champions.  60 young players from Pui Ching attended the competition for the first time.  Six of our players entered the top 10 in the competition, creating the best scores to date for teen players in Macao.

Pui Ching teachers Ms. Fong In Han, Mr. Sun In, Mr. Lei Hoi Kan, and Ms. Lao Si Man were conferred the title of “Excellent Coach” by the Renju International Federation. 

 

 

Students win second place in world ranking in National VEX Robotics Competition2020-09-01

The students’ passion for learning did not diminish during the pandemic, and world-class competitions continue to offer platforms for our youths to showcase their talent.  The Pui Ching FRC and VEX Robotics Teams attended the National VEX Robotics Competition from August 17th to 27th.  The competition this year was held online and consisted of the preliminary competition, the rematch, and the finals.  Teachers and students devoted themselves to the preparation during the summer vacation and excelled in the competition.  Student Group A of the Senior High Category (including Chan Wai Chong, Ieong Chio Kit, Ip Wai Hin, Cheok Chi Him, Lam Chi Io, and Mio Man Hei) won the second place in world ranking in the Robot Skills Challenge.  Student Group B of the Senior High Category (including Tang I Choi, Ieong Hou Kan, Hong Wang Lok, Tou Chi Ieng, Lei Cheng U, Leong Nga Chi, and Ian Chi Hin) won the ninth place in world ranking.  Our students in the Junior High Category (including Chan Hou Fai, Wong Chi Pang, Lei Pak Kio, Wu Man Hei, and Lei Wa Lok) won the twentieth place in world ranking.  Congratulations to our award-winners!

Pui Ching signs cooperation agreement with Macao Development Strategies Research Center2020-08-28

Principal Kou and various school administrators visited the Macao Development Strategies Research Center and met with Director Sio Chi Wai and his administrative team. 

 

The Macao Development Strategies Research Center aims to contribute to the development of Macao.  Recent research studies conducted by the center included “The success of the One-Country-Two-Systems structure—the Macao experience” and “Research on the development and feasibility of a characteristic financial system in Macao”.  The center also started a summer internship program in 2015 that aims to improve the comprehensive ability of students.

 

Principal Kou mentioned that Pui Ching has always stressed the importance of science education, innovative abilities in students and their well-rounded development.  It is hoped that through cooperation with the Research Center, Pui Ching can further contribute to the development of various enterprises of the city. 

 

Pui Ching utilized as evacuation center in wake of Severe Tropical Storm Higos2020-08-19

In the wake of the approaching tropical storm Higos, the Bureau of Meteorology initiated the evacuation plan for low-lying areas.  17 evacuation centers around Macao are open to the public, Pui Ching being one of them.

 

Severe tropical storm Higos was the closest to Macao in the early morning of the 19th.  It gradually weakened and the evacuation center closed at 11:30am.

 

This was the second time that evacuation centers were open for the public in Macao.  Evacuation centers were first opened in the wake of Super Typhoon Mangkhut from September 15 to 17, 2018. 

Pui Ching students participate in Model United Nations2020-08-17

The Macao Pui Ching Middle School Model United Nations Program for High School Students concluded on the 19th.  Principal Kou and Vice-Principal Kuok respectively talked to the students at the opening and closing ceremony.  They encouraged the students to shoulder their social responsibilities in the new era.  The current event attracted student participants from 11 schools around the world.  The program took place over 18 hours spread among three days.  Over the three days, students engaged in discussions regarding a series of international issues.  Awards were presented in five categories.  Ten students received awards at the event, including Mr. Ku Lok Hei from Kao Yip Middle School (Best Delegate Award), Ms. Fong Oi Cheng and Mr. Chan Hou Chai from Pui Ching Middle School (Outstanding Delegate Award), Ms. Wong Choi Ying from St. John’s College of England (Outstanding Delegate Award), Ms. Pun Lai San from Kao Yip Middle School (Honorable Mention), Mr. Lam Chi Kuan from Keang Peng School (Honorable Mention), Mr. Chan U Hin from Pui Ching Middle School (Best Style Award), Ms. Chao Ka Ian from Keang Peng Middle School (Best Style Award), Ms. Ng Wan Hei from Kao Yip Middle School (Best Position Paper Award) and Mr. Lam Cheng Hon from Pui Ching Middle School (Best Position Paper Award).  Congratulations to our award winners!
